U.S. Customs and Border Protection Certifies Power Freight Systems as Bonded Carrier

San Francisco, CA, 09/14/2010 —

Power Freight Systems worked closely with the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), to achieve approved status as a CBP Bonded Carrier, also known as a CBP Common Carrier.

The bonded carrier status enables Power Freight Systems to handle and transport merchandise received into the United States under CBP regulations as bonded freight, for transport between CBP approved bonded facility locations. It also authorizes Power Freight Systems to transport goods held in bond, to and from locations designated under Department of Homeland Security regulations as a Foreign Trade Zone or Sub-zone.

This additional third party logistics (3PL) service offering from Power Freight Systems, is part of the company’s on-going strategic initiative to partner with customers in the reduction of costs and the optimization of their supply chains. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Power Freight Systems offers a range of 3PL, warehousing and supply chain management services.

Power Freight Systems currently operates a network of five domestic logistics management centers. The company is strongly focused on expansion via the development of scalable, agile and trusted logistics operations, and views certifications such as CBP Bonded Carrier status as key to this objective.

The Customs and Border Protection bureau has its origins with the First Congress of the United States back in 1789. Following the events of September 11, 2001 the CBP was formalized as the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, in the Directorate for Border and Transportation Security, Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003. Its priority mission today is keeping terrorists and their weapons out of the United States.
